Audio for Day 29

Day 29

Welcome to Day 29!

Only one day left! This is my last chance for a lesson because the last day is a bit of a surprise.

I mentioned yesterday that we all want the good, the happy, the joyful in our lives.  After 28 days you know the science and you know the strategies to become more positive.  All you need to do now is practice, trust in the process, be kind to yourself if you get behind or forget.

You no longer need outside forces to make you happy.  You don’t need someone else.  You don’t need a new car, house, shoes, iPhone or a raise.  You don’t need a perfect spouse or perfect children.  And you most certainly don’t need to be perfect yourself.

You know that happiness, joy, positivity is yours whenever you decide that you want it.  It works. I used it again today.  I was very sad in the middle of the day.  I felt the sadness settle in my body, in my chest where deep emotions always seems to settle for me.  I couldn’t resolve the situation that was making me sad because it was out of my control.  I couldn’t even change how I felt about it because it still makes me sad if I let myself think about it.  So I think about it as little as possible.

Here’s what I could do.  I could find a better feeling thought. It wasn’t all that easy at first because my story telling self wanted to wallow in what was making me sad.  I couldn’t let it.  It hurt.  So I dug into my toolbox (thanks Denise) and grabbed my favorites:  I got out of the house, got into the sun even though it was cold outside, drove to the water, listened to some audio from Law of Attraction.  I shared what was making me sad with the person who was the cause of it which helped release some of the hold on me.  I didn’t blame or complain.  And now I would say I’m 90% better.  Still have the same situation because I can’t change it but I feel better and that’s what’s important.

I play the Fairy Godmother to Cinderella and have been for years.  Perfect because it reminds me that I have the power any time I want it.  It’s no fairytale.  We grow up wanting the power to create our lives from the stories we read as kids but the bottom line is that we DO have that power.  All we need is to believe, practice, and enjoy!

I will leave you today with one of my favorite quotes from my days teaching Strategies for Success to my high school students.  It’s listed as anonymous.

“If I could give you one gift it would be the ability to see yourself as I see you so you’d know how truly special you are.”

Don’t forget.  I won’t.

See  you tomorrow….

P.S.  Now you can choose to continue to the next day or wait until tomorrow.  Either way, here's a link to the next chapter.
